Week 10.1: Human Interest in Business
Adding human interest and appealing to people's emotions can be very effective for a business post. People want to connect and relate. When we feel emotionally attached to a business or concept we generally want to support them. One is more likely to give patron to a company that reflects similar goals and desires as ones own. Studies of brand loyalty demonstrates this well.
A good reason for sharing personal experiences (in an appropriate and highly presentable manner of course) We, as in people, also make many if not majority of our decisions in life, including purchases, based off emotions. The product or service may make us feel good, or even if the gratification is not immediately, we may feel what a business has to offer will solve a future problem, or make life easier in some way. Happiness, triumph, relaxation, power and relief from negative experiences or feelings are just a few broad examples of what many people seek. Seeing an example of other people obtaining the goals we have and experiencing the emotions we desire, creates a connection and captures the audience attention. These experiences tell stories. People tend to love stories and feel much more compelled to engage with a post, and a business if they feeling emotionally connected to the story. This is done particularly well when the viewer feels they are a part of the story.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you, by adding some personal touch we can engage the target market and create a human connection. I always support small business owners specially liking their post even if I don't purchase. Now a days, having social media connections and sharing goes a long way.

ReplyDeleteI think people love personal stories as well and seem to connect with a post if it stirs some type of emotion in them. People also need reassurance of acquiring a new service or product due to buyers remorse, so I agree that showing satisfied customers would be a great approach.
